The Cuban Revolution
The Cuban Revolution was a turning point for Cuban history, Fidel Castro rose to power by uniting the Cuban people against their corrupt president and taking back Cuba!
Fulgencio Batista had been a good president at first, Cuba was doing well until the elections came along. Batista's government was constantly becoming more corrupt, he suspended the 1940 Constitution and took away most political liberties. He let The United States mafia take over the Cuban economy. Batista knew that his chances for re-election were low he would most likely lose the election to his opponent. So he decided to fix this by canceling the elections. This was not okay with Fidel Castro, a young politician who would have had a seat on Congress if the elections hadn't been cancelled. Fidel Castro makes it his goal to take back Cuba.
